Rochester Child Support Attorney Discusses Add-On ExpensesAs an experienced Rochester Child Support Attorney I have seen situations where a spouse decides to pay the child support payments but not the add-on expenses.  In addition to child support payments, there are add-on expenses, which are the day care expenses and the uninsured medical expenses. Those expenses are handled outside of the Child Support Enforcement Unit and generally separate from the basic child support obligation. If you’re receiving your basic child support obligation, but the other parent isn’t paying their share of the medical expenses or their share of the day care, you have to keep your receipts and go back to court and file a violation petition. You tell the judge that you haven’t been getting that share of your child support. As long as you produce sufficient proof and evidence those expenses were incurred, you can get a judgment against the other parent, which is then enforceable through the Child Support Enforcement Unit.
